The role of the Chaplain

The Chaplain is an essential member of a Catholic school community. The College Chaplain role usually is the responsibility of the Parish Priest or the Assistant Priest in the Parish.

The role of the Chaplain is to promote the school’s Catholic identity and help students and staff grow in their faith and personal development.

The Chaplain’s primary responsibility is to promote the Catholic faith. The Chaplain assists students and staff understand and live out Catholic values and undertakes a pastoral role in the school which mirrors that of Jesus the Good Shepherd.

They may organise prayer services, and other religious activities that help students deepen their relationship with God and develop a sense of community with their peers.
