Inclusive Education

Supporting all

students

Marian Catholic College affirms the right of all young people to a broad balanced education in an inclusive and supportive environment. At MCC we recognise the diversity of learners and the necessity of adapting educational resources to meet the needs of all students.

We are committed to making inclusive education real for all our students by providing targeted support for students in need in mainstream classes. Inclusion is embedded in all aspects of school life, and is supported by culture, policies and everyday practices.

Learning Support Team

The Learning Support Team is led by the Leaders of Inclusive Education along with an experienced team of Learning Support Assistants. The team work both behind the scenes and in the classroom to support  students with diverse learning needs.

Through collaborative planning with students, families, teachers, support staff and the Leaders of Inclusive Education, a personalised plan with supports and adjustments is developed, implemented and reviewed regularly.

Assisting students and teachers in all Key Learning Areas

The Learning Support team also works closely with teachers and KLA and pastoral leaders to assist, advise, adapt and select appropriate programs for students who are diverse learners. This may include:

  • Support to implement, adjust, monitor and evaluate programs for students with Personalised Plans
  • Collaboration-sharing information, ideas and strategies that allow diverse learners to flourish
  • Implementing special provisions procedures for class assessments and examinations
  • Assessing students identified as needing additional support
  • Student support in the classroom from teaching assistants who work with individuals and small groups.
